Longest Break Yet...

As I sit here listening to some music, I realize that this is the longest break I have taken from the blog yet. Why might you curiously ask? Well life is exactly why! It has a way of creeping up on you when you least expect it. You tend to naturally plan your life out when 9 out of 10 times, it doesn't happen the way you plan. Life is much bigger than both you and I. It has a plan for us, and no matter what we try to do, it's sticking to it's plan...and we are just a long for the ride.

2010 thus far has been far more of an emotional roller-coaster then 2009. I thought 2009 was bad. Ha! Jokes on me I guess. So much has happened that I don't even know where to begin. I guess to make a long story short...my better half and I decided to part ways after 7 years, I went to school to become a nurse just to find out that I love fashion too much to just give up, and last but not least I am on a personal journey trying to find myself from the inside out.

No matter how many tears I've cried in these past few months, I can't be sad for what has happened or where I am at in my life. I am here for a reason, as this is the path that will take me to where I truly belong. It has been hard and emotional to say the very least, but gives me hope for a better future. The crazy thing about life is, you never see it coming. I mean you honestly are blindsided by the events that creep up on you, and we manage to push through it. It's truly amazing to think of what is still to come. I'm sure there's going to bad and good events, but I'm mainly hoping for the good ;)

Real Talk: Are Women the New Men in Relationships?

There seems to be a shift in the universe lately which has made me notice a couple of things. I find that in todays society, Women seem to be taking on a different role in relationships then they did in the past. With women becoming more and more independent, I see a trend forming where they don't want nor feel the need to settle down or commit to one man. Getting married & having children are now not the epitome of a woman. Now don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are many of women who are out there that are very much looking to settle down, but overall I see a shift in how women view relationships, commitment, & monogamy. It has definitely moved down the list of priorities to say the least...

It has been known to man that most men have some form of commitment phobia. But interesting enough, it seems as though the tables have turned in some fashion. I see more & more men wanting to settle down & commit while the women are saying NO THANK YOU. When a man wants to settle down, & commit, they are now being viewed as clingy, sensitive, and become less appeasing. These independent women don't want to be bothered with men who are clingy & sensitive so they pass it up and move on to the next.

When did this happen? When did a man who simply likes you and chooses not to be with other women,  & wants to commit to a relationship become clingy & sensitive?

When you ask? I think when women realized that you don't need a man to be fulfilled. When women realized that most men cheat & lie, so why put yourself out there to get hurt. Why limit yourself to just one man when you can date several and not be so emotionally attached to just one who can potentially hurt you. I also think being that women are so independent now, that their careers, friends, & life are being put ahead of men & relationships in general. Something that was once on the front line has now been placed on the back burner. Women are accepting that they may not ever get married, or have children, and they're okay with that.

Is there a down side to this possible trend? Perhaps. It could go either way really... These women who pass up on these great guys may not get that opportunity again when and if they are ready. Or, if you look at it from the other spectrum, the men who finally want to commit and when they open themselves up to and get shut down might revert to their old ways indefinitely...which makes it difficult for the next woman who comes along, who then leaves a bad taste in her mouth, thus creating a vicious cycle.

Personally, I am a very independent woman who has a very demanding career. I am also involved in a serious relationship & have been for the past 7 years. There have been many times that I've struggled with balancing out the two, but in the end when you care about something enough, you put forth everything you have to keep it.

My advice: Not all guys are the same, as the same with women. If a person comes a long that is a great catch who wants to seriously pursue you, & your honestly ready, take a leap of faith & give it a chance.  There are no guarantees in life, it can always go either way... but you will never know if you always have your guard up. Don't let past relationships determine future relationships. You can still be independent and be in a relationship, you just have to communicate your needs & wants & learn to balance out the two.

What's your thoughts on this?

Quick Update!

So as you may know, I have been gone for quite some time. All for good reasons though! I have been going through some major transitioning and I like where I'm headed. In any case, I thought I would let you know that I will be moving blogs! I will not be posting on this blog as much anymore as you can now find me at Garment Vault :)

This is what I have been working on while I have been MIA, and so far its been incredible! I have been getting such a great response from the site and all I can say is a HUGEEEE thank you to all those who have supported me, it is GREATLY appreciated!

If you are wondering what Garment Vault is, well... its an online retailer of fashion forward apparel, shoes, & accessories for the style conscious and trend-savvy shoppers who want designer looks for less. I basically came to the conclusion that even during these tough economic times, I still want to look good! Therefore, I am now on the hunt for fabulous apparel, shoes, & accessories from independent designers all over the country that is still affordable & chic! It is still a work in progress so continue to check back as there is sooo much more to come!

I will be updating the garment vault blog on the regular, in addition to the online store! I hope all is well with you and I did in-fact miss you guys A LOT!!

Moving on to Bigger & Better...

Its been quite some time since I have last blogged....

Since my last post, I have been soul searching as I had finally left my job that I was so thoroughly involved with. I mean I was completely and utterly consumed with my job, which at that point I thought was my life. Shit happened and it made me realize that life is too short, and you need to be involved with things that truly matter to you, and make you happy at the end of the day. After a month of looking within, I decided to venture off onto something new.

I am scared and nervous of what the future holds... but I can not let fear get in the way of my dreams. I am venturing off onto unknown territories. A path that is foreign to me. However, I am up for the challenge no matter how difficult it shall be...because at the end of the day it is all mine, and my success is ultimately in the hands of my own which no one can take nor take advantage of. In that I already feel that I am on the right track.

I am also in the process of moving so I have been in the mist of cleaning, packing, moving, organizing, etc. I am all about getting my life in order these days...one section at a time!

I apologize for being absent. I just haven't had a break since high school. I went from high school to college to internship to job, to other job, etc. I really haven't had any time off in between and I felt I just needed to unwind and rejuvenate myself before I proceed any further. I needed to gain some perspective...which at times is best when taking a step back to take a step forward.

I do feel like I have taken a few steps back but all to make those right steps forward!

I hope all is well with everyone!

Until next time ;)

Long Story Short...

These past few months have been intense, to say the least. I've had to do a lot of soul searching, and looking at things for what they truly are instead of how I wanted them to be. I had to make some decisions that were difficult, but ultimately were the best for me, because in the end I deserved better. It's funny how everyone around you tells you what you can't see, but in time it becomes so clear....

I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, and look for the good, even when it's bad...

After all the drama, I am so at peace with my decision. Actually, I feel amazing. I have learned that one, I will never compromise my self worth, nor morals, and two, I will be very selective with whom I work with. Many times, people enter your life having ulterior motifs, and I will now pay close attention to those who enter my life, as I have already rid myself of those who had ulterior motifs!

The greatest thing is I have such a wonderful, loving, support system that is there for me no matter what... and that's what matters at the end of the day!

I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW....

It's been a coooooool minute since I've last blogged...

Please excuse my absence, its been 15 hour days at work trying to get this huge order out! By the time I get home, shower, & finally eat, my brain is fried to do anything else other than sleep! Sometimes I can't even fall asleep since I'm so stressed about work and end up falling asleep 2 hours before my alarm goes off :/

I have less then one week until I have to ship out this order and it's been one disaster after another unfortunately. Its been bananas to say the least....

I should get back to the swing of things soon and I just wanted to say HIIIIII! until then :) In the meantime, catch me on twitter to converse... it seems to work well with my schedule these days!

Note To Self...

  • Know that problems are meant to be solved.
  • Learn not to stress out so much.
  • Make more of an attempt to balance out business & pleasure.
  • Try to understand and accept people for who they are to minimize disappointment.
  • Know that everything happens for a reason. Only time will be able to reveal that reason.
  • Keep in mind that things that enter your life as adversaries are sent to stretch you towards your gifts. Your talents are developed in your defenses.
  • Remind yourself that at the end of the day, good nor bad, Life is a blessing worth cherishing.
